The 20-minute choice that changed my year...

Hi Reader!

I want to tell you a quick story about something I set my mind to this year.

This past year I applied to a new premium stock agency, The Luupe.

Years ago, someone who worked at Getty mentioned The Luupe to me. Very casually and very discreetly, they said they believed it was the future of stock photography.

I remember looking it up and immediately thinking there was no way I could ever get in.

After a few years of proving to myself that I could do a lot of things I once thought were impossible, I revisited that belief and decided to give myself a shot.

I was accepted.

Once I was in, just months before the launch of their new marketplace, I set a very clear goal for myself. I wanted to build my portfolio to 1,000 images in my first year.

And as of December 31st, I did it!

Reaching 1,000 images is something I often encourage my students to aim for before deciding how they really feel about stock photography. It gives the process enough time and volume to show what is possible.

But here is the real question.

How did I do this as a busy mom, with ADHD, already running a demanding business?

20 minutes a day.

Here is why it actually worked.

I carved out the first 20 minutes after school drop off.
I put an analog timer on my desk.
I sat down.
I worked on stock.
Then I moved on with my day.

That’s it.
Some days I pushed it aside, but that 20 minute block on my calendar showed up again the next day.

A protected block of time.
And a system that made showing up easier than skipping it.

That is exactly why I am running the Stock Photography Reset inside Stock Photo Besties this month.

Because most photographers do not need more information.

They need structure.
They need support.
They need scaffolding.

As we head into the reset, I am asking everyone to set aside 30 minutes a day for the daily task.

Some days you will use all 30 minutes. Some days you will not.

That's not the point.

This is not about discipline, willpower, or doing better this year (hard pass).

A lot of habit advice assumes that if you repeat something long enough, it becomes automatic. For some people that is true. For others, especially if you have ADHD, kids, a full schedule, or just a tired brain, consistency is fragile.

So we are not relying on habits.

We are relying on scaffolding.

Scaffolding is external support that makes showing up easier when your energy, focus, or memory fluctuate.

Habits require you to remember to do the thing.
Scaffolding becomes the reminder.

Inside the reset, I will walk you through:
• choosing a realistic 30 minute window
• removing friction around starting
• getting clear on what actually matters this year so decision making stays out of your way
• building systems that hold up in real life

I will be posting the daily task each evening so you never have to decide what to work on the next day. You will also have the support of the Besties community the entire way.

We are kicking things off with a live Reset Kickoff Call tomorrow.
Thursday at 6PM MST/ 8PM EST.

I will answer questions, walk you through what to expect, and help you set yourself up for success before Day 1.

If you have been meaning to get your photos uploaded, organized, or moving again but keep falling off, this reset is for you.

You do not need more motivation.
You need a system that fits your life.

You can join Stock Photo Besties for just $33 and get instant access to the reset here

I would love to have you with us!

xo,
Aubrey

Hi Reader! Six years ago, I blew up my life. I left a home I loved, a career I had built, and a community that felt like mine, all to move back “home.”Closer to family. More affordable. A better place to raise a baby. Except… that version of home didn’t exist anymore. Within a month, housing prices exploded. The world shut down. The pandemic hit creatives especially hard. And like a lot of photographers, I panicked. I felt forced to pivot into anything and everything to make money as a...

Happy New Year Reader! Later this week, I’ll be sharing exactly how I worked toward my stock photography goals this year. But before that, I want to talk about something important. If earning from photo licensing is on your 2026 vision board, getting your work into premium stock matters. A lot. Think about it from the brand side for a second. A brand spends tens of thousands of dollars on a campaign. Strategy, copy, colors, creative direction. Every decision is intentional. Then imagine they...
